Las hormonas parecen jugar un papel importante en este mantenimiento. El glucagon actua sobre la proteolisis y sobre la sintessis de proteinas. La administracion de glucagon aumento la concentracion hepatica de valina  lo que indica un aumento en la actividad proteolitica celular. Por otra parte es capaz de inhibir hasta en un 40% la actividad neta de sintesis de proteinas hepaticas. Actuando preferentemente sobre las etapas de crecimiento y o terminacion. Nuestros resultados sugieren que el efecto primario de la hormona es movilizar lipidos endogenos que al aumentar el estado de reduccion del sistema nadt disminuiria el contenido energetico celular que
