En estado purificado contiene 2 moles de atp y 2 moles de adp por mol de enzima. Estos nucleotidos endogenos se intercambian con exogenos sin afectar a la actividad hidrolitica. La atpasa de m.  lysodeikticus no es una fosfolipoproteina siendo los principales fosfolipidos que se solubilizan de la membrana junto con la atpasa  el fosfatidilglicerol y los fosfatidiletanolamina. Los estudios de biosintesis  de la atpasa purificado sugieren la posibilidad de que se sintetice en el citoplasma incorporandose despues en la membrana  y se ha demostrado que sus subunidades  alfa beta  y gamma  son independientes entre si. La inhibicion de la sintesis de lipidos no afecta a la biosintesis de la atpasa en el citoplasma pero afecta a la incorporacion de este enzima en la membrana
