El armonio es el represor nutricional de este enzima. Esta nitrato reductasa es interconvertible por oxido-reduccion in vitro inactivandose reversiblemente por el poder reductor fotosintetico; el amonio inhibe la fotorreduccion de nitrato inactivando por reduccion a la nitrato reductasa debido a su efecto desaconplante de la fotofosforilacion y estimulador del flujo.
