En el primer caso  se propone una teoria intermedia entre la termodinamica de procesos irreversibles y la termodinamica racional  y que da para las ecuaciones constitutivas formas explicitas que evitan la paradoja de velocidades infinitas de perturbacion y que generalizan las de los fluidos de segundo orden. Esta nueva teoria se aplica en el primer capitulo a la difusion en mezclas binarias y  en el segundo  a la conduccion de corriente electrica. A continuacion se construye un principio variacional del tipo lebon-lambermont para problemas magnetohidrodinamicos en primer orden  y su eficacia se comprueba con su aplicacion a dos problemas
