La productividad se contempla en sentido amplio y con especial enfasis en la rentabilidad. Son abordadas las teorias sobre la existencia o no de la  dimension optima  y sobre  el crecimiento empresarial  a traves de los estudios teoricos y empiricos conocidos hasta el presente. Se hace especial mencion a las  pyme  (peque\u00f1as y medianas empresas)  en atencion a su peso especifico en el conjunto de la produccion. Se remodela la informacion publicada sobre 500 empresas  atendiendo no solo al volumen de ventas   sino tambien a la  rentabilidad  y cash-flow   obteniendose interesante informacion.  finalmente  se establecen treinta y tres conclusiones como resumen de los estudios realizados.
