Se concluye que: (1) un solo gen determina dos funciones: una que llamamos a  es necesaria para la sintesis de carotenos; la otra que llamamos r  es la cicleses del licogeno. El segmento prosimal del gen es responsable de la funcion a  y el segmento distal  de la r. Los segmentos a y r son separados por una proteasa antes de pasar a desempe\u00f1ar sus funciones en la mta. (2) el producto del segmento a actua probablemente facilitando el transporte de sustratos en el complejo carotenogenico. (3) la actuacion de la carotenogenosis por medios quimicos depende de  al menos  una funcion celular  revelada pw la existencia de mutantes insensibles a estimulos
