Destaca el papel de las celulas vasocentrales, las cuales en el estado de reposo se encuentran formando parte del tejido vasofibroso, una especializacion del tejido conectivo.  estas celulas son las responsables de la formacion de un tejido celular, el pseudoblastema, que tapona la herida, y de la fagocitosis de los tejidos necroticos; son responsables tambien de la contraccion de la herida, presentando haces de actins intracitoplasmaticos orientados segun las lineas de fuerza y uniones intercelulares especializadas transmisoras de la fuerza de tension; finalmente, contribuyen a la regeneracion de la matriz cicatricial. El proceso de repitelizacion se da por migracion de toda la capa espitelial a partir de el epitelio de los margenes de la herida, tal como sucede en epitelios de
