La unidad graba un ciclo completo de ecga partir de cualquier instante en cuatro conjuntos de memorias donde quedan registrados el caracter del accidente (onda-pausa)  el signo de la onda (positiva o negativa) la amplitud de cada onda y el tiempo de duracion de cada uno de los accidentes. Se ordenan estos de p a tp y se comparan con los que el operador considera como normal (patron que en cada momento puede ser ajustado) analizandose los cuatro aspectos anteriormente descritos (caracter  signo  amplitud y duracion) de cada accidente.  cuando las diferencias entre uno y otro superan un cierto valor  se accionan un sistema de alarmas que ponen sobreaviso al vigilante que una vez comprobada la alteracion  ordena manualmente un nuevo registro.
