Para ello se utilizaron ratas albino wistar anestesiadas con eter o uretano. En una primera serie se inyecto el enzima peroxidasa de rabano en el tuberculo cuadragemino superior con la que se evidencio un gran numero de neuronas nigrales te\u00f1idas con los productos de reaccion del enzima con el substrato o dianidasa. Igualmente inyecciones de peroxidasa de rabano en la substancia negra marcaron neuronas tectales. Electrofisiologicamente se aislaron neuronas tectales que mediante la estimulacion electrica de la substancia negra respondieron con una excitacion o incremento de la frecuencia de disparo o bien con una inhibicion de su frecuencia espontanea. Finalmente se aplicaron bloqueantes de los neurotransmisores con posibilidad de actuacion sobre las neuronas tectales  mediante la inyeccion microiontoforetica de los mismos.
