Situando a feijoo en el contexto general del fenomeno ilustrado centra su estudio en las ideas feijonianas referentes a la genesis humana. Tras definir el marco cosmico de la genesis humana se expone la oposicion de feijoo a la generacion espontanea asi como sus anticipaciones de las teorias evolucionistas en sus visiones del progreso de las especies vivientes y de la humanidad  en su admision de una inmensa plasticidad en la naturaleza humana y de una posibilidad indefinida de cruzamiento interespecifico. En cuanto a la ontogenesis individual se destacan sus teorias sobre la fecundacion el origen hematogeno del semen  la paridad entre las contribuciones masculina y femenina  la critica antinobiliaria desde la genetica  su explicacion de la teratolog\u00eda por causas accidentales  se expone largamente la evolucion de feijoo en torno al preformacionismo y la epigenesis  sus concepciones sobre los
