Se ha prestado especial atencion a aquellas soluciones que al ser invariantes por ciertas transformaciones pueden reducirse a dimension dos.  para el tratamiento de las ecuaciones de navier-stokes se ha utilizado una tecnica de potenciales escalares para representar el campo de velocidades. Las ecuaciones para los potenciales se han resuelto usando metodos espectrales y diferencias finitas.  se han obtenido las curvas de transicion del flujo basico de covette a las soluciones denominadas vortices de taylor y flujo espiral. Estas soluciones han sido calculadas posteriormente ya sea mediante evolucion temporal o mediante metodos de continuacion.  una vez obtenidas se han estudiado algunas de sus caracteristicas, algun
