Mediterranei estructuralmente es un hexamero, con alto contenido de aminoacidos acidos y bajo en cuanto a aminoacidos basicos con respecto a sus contrapartidas no halofilicas, presentando una gran homolog\u00eda en el extremo n-terminal con otras glutamato deshidrogenasas nadp dependientes.
