La tecnica esta basada en una formulacion variacional de las leyes del campo electromagnetico  en terminos de un funcional que depende del potencial vector. Se hace un estudio de la forma en que se pueden tener en cuenta las distintas condiciones de contorno al aplicar elementos finitos. Despues se analiza la maquina m.H.D. De induccion mediante la resolucion de varios modelos con muy pocas hipotesis simplificativas  mediante la tecnica de los elementos finitos. Por ultimo se estudian dos modelos para la resolucion de aquellos casos en los que la aproximacion cuasi-estatica no es valida.  todos los modelos estudiados se aplican a ejemplos de los que se
