Las soluciones aportadas, en general, adolecen de pproblemas de invarianza, excesiva rigidez y dificultad de convergencia, soluciones heuristicas, costes computacionales elevados y falta de soluciones globales que abarquen conjuntamente los aspectos de extraccion de caracteristicas y clasificacion. Los objetivos de la investigacion se orientan hacia:  . Obtencion de un descriptor invariante y general de texturas que permita compactar el espacio de caracteristicas.  . Clasificacion de texturas en terminos de dada una region, determinar a que clase pertenece dentro de un conjunto finito. Sin imponer restricciones morfologicas o estocasticas al tipo de textura o numero de clases.  . Incorporacion del modelado conexionista en todas las etapas del problema; de forma que se aporte una solucion altamente paralelizable y tolerante a fallos.  para ello se propone el concepto de coeficiente morfologico (como extractor de caracteristicas) y el modelo de memorias asociativas ortogonales que implementa las heuristicas de extraccion y clasificacion. Tambien se proponen arquitecturas convencionales paralelas para su implementacion y se formaliza el problema de clasificacion. El sistema se aplica a la deteccion de defectos en material textil y la segmentacion de microcalcificaciones en mamografias.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
