La actividad especifica para este enzima es muy elevada en comparacion con la obtenida para otras enterobacterias. Cepas mutantes que presentan un modelo distinto de excrecion de glutamato  bien carecen de isocitrato deshidrogenasa o presentan un enzima distinto con respecto al de la cepa c3.
