En primer lugar se determinan los efectos de la hepatectomia sobre la glucemia y los niveles de glicerol y acidos grasos libres en sangre; para ello se utilizan ratas y cerdos  estos ultimos sometidos a trasplante  hepatico.  despues se hace un estudio de la desaparicion in vivo de glucosa-c14 y glicerol-c14 de la circulacion en ratas hepatectomizadas  determinandose el efecto de la insulina sobre dicho parametro. Tambien se estudia la conversion de dichos trazadores a lipidos-c14 de tejidos extrahepaticos (acidos grasos y glicerol de gliceridos).  finalmente  se determinan las actividades de enzimas directamente implicados en el metabolismo de ambos sustratos. Los datos obtenidos se interpretan en base a los efectos contrapuestos de la insulina sobre la utilizacion del glicerol en distintos tejidos extrahepaticos  lo que condiciona los escasos cambios que
