Producto de la destruccion mecanica y termica de su estructura cristalina. Se propone como procedimiento optimo para la obtencion de materiales arcillosos iliticos activados el tratamiento termico-mecanico de los mismos. Se propone a la activacion termica como el proceso optimo para llevar a cabo la activacion de los materiales arcillosos mayoritariamente caoliniticos. Se estudian comparativamente los costes de los procesos de activacion termica y de activacion termico mecanica de los materiales aluminosos obteniendose  en el caso de que los niveles alcanzados por la extraccion del aluminio sean significativamente diferentes  una importante reduccion de costes a favor del proceso de activacion termico-mecanica. Se proponen diagramas de fluzo para la obtencion de los siguientes productos aluminosos:  aluminia metalurgica  alumina catalica  sulfato de aluminio y cloruro de aluminio
