Los cambios en la composicion polisacaridica de la pared durante el crecimiento se traducen en un aumento de su contenido en celulosa  asi como de un descenso en su nivel de glucosa no celulosica. Se estudian las actividades enzimaticas relacionadas con estos cambios en particular una actividad autolitica localizada en la propia pared  que se describe como una glucanasa probablemente
