Mediante distintos metodos hidrologicos se procede a la comprobacion de dichos datos y a su elaboracion y extension a un periodo de estudio que abarca desde 1947 a 1976. Posteriormente  se calcula el potencial hidroelectrico bruto teoricamente aprovechable en las distintas cuencas de la vertiente cantabrica de la provincia de santander. Mediante la definicion del tipo de aprovechamiento (centrales fluyentes de peque\u00f1a potencia)  de los caracteristicas de los mismos  de la capacidad de derivacion y de los rendimientos y las perdidas  se determina el potencial hidroelectrico aprovechable.
