Las estirpes 102 104  307 y silvestre poseen una diaforasa inducible por nitrato que contiene fad y citocromo b557 y que se considera como una verdadera subunidad de la nitrato reductasa. La 305 tiene una actividad nitrato reductasa terminal asociada a una proteina de menor tama\u00f1o que la enzima silvestre. La estirpe 301 posee diaforasa inducible por nitrato y cofactor de molibdeno  el cual tambien aparece en 305 y en la estirpe silvestre. En base a estudios de complementacion in vitro entre las diversas estirpes mutantes y al analisis de las estructuras de las enzimas de las estirpes mutantes  se propone un modelo heteropolimerico para la estructura cuaternaria del complejo nitrato reductasa de este alga verde. Se estudian ademas las propiedades de la enzima reconstituida asi como las del cofactor de molibdeno.
