En la fotofosforilacion no-ciclica  parte de esta energia redox es usada en la sintesis de atp. Nosotros postulamos que en dicho proceso esta implicado el citocromo b-559 como sistema redox transductor de energia del tipo de forma oxidada energetizada. Como tal sistema esta constituido por dos pares de potenciales alternantes que comparten la misma forma reducida y difieren en la forma oxidada energetizada en el par de alto potencial (e    ph7=135 15 mv).
