En este trabajo se estudia el mecanismo de transporte de gicina en mitocondrias de higado y cerebro de rata  observandose que este proceso se inhibe por la  presencia de propionato y metilmalonato  pudiendo ser esta inhibicion una posible causa de la hipergicinemia que acompana a las acidemias propionica y metilmalonica.
