Se fundamenta en el registro de intensidades de energia caracteristicas de emision-absorcion  de las distintas lineas orbitales  y en consecuencia  determina elementos.  la importancia del trabajo se pone de manifiesto: en el ambito agronomico (diagnostico foliar)  en el ambito fisico-quimico o instrumental (caracteristicas de exactitud  rapidez  adaptabilidad y economia). Presenta interes industrial en tanto que es automatizable y es importante el metodo para el control del estado nutritivo del arbolado que puede revertir en aumento de produccion; asi como para
