De todas las cepas de este microorganismo disponibles al comienzo de esta investigacion  la atcc-27405 mostro el crecimiento mas rapido y prolifico en celobiosa  la mejor produccion de etanol y la resistencia mas alta a la inhibicion del crecimiento por etanol. Esta cepa produce enzimas extracelulares con actividades celuloliticas y hemiceluloliticas. Estos enzimas se produjeron constitutivamente y su sintesis no estuvo sometida a represion por celobiosa ni por glucosa. C. Thermocellum attcc-27405 solo puede utilizar para crecer y producir etanol  la fraccion celulosa de los sustratos organicamente complejos. Como consecuencia de los datos experimentales obtenidos en esta investigacion  hemos propuesto algunos modelos teoricos de regulacion a nivel genetico que podrian estar involucrados en la utilizacion
