Las reflexiones en el diagrama se agrupan en dos direcciones; las que aparecen en la direccion meridional corresponden a la ordenacion periodica de las membranas al empaquetarse las ecuatoriales corresponden a la disposicion regular de la proteina bacteriorrodopsina en el plano de la membrana. De las posiciones de los maximos se deduce que el tipo de celdilla es hexagonal y se calculan los parametros reticulares. Comocida la densidad de la membrana se calcula el numero de moleculas de proteina por celdilla unidad. El ensanchamiento observado en las reflesiones al aumentar el espaciado permite  aplicango la teoria del paracristal  calcular el tama\u00f1o del cristal el grado de fluctuacion relativa de los espaciados reticulares y el numero de planos que difractan coherentemente en las direcciones perpendicular y paralela al plano de la membrana.
