Como consecuencia de la inactivacion de glutamina sintetasa por msx  los procesos de reduccion de nitrato y fijacion de n2 se estimulan  liberandose al medio alrededor del 90% del amoniaco resultante de la reduccion de las formas oxidadas del nitrogeno. La velocidad de produccion de las formas oxidadas del nitrogeno. La velocidad de produccion de amoniaco depende de la iluminacion especifica que recibe la suspension celular. La eficiencia de estos procesos de conversion de energia luminica en energia quimica es del orden del 15-30% de los maximos teoricos.  el proceso de fotoproduccion de amoniaco es estable en el tiempo
