Estos compuestos presentan interes como antimicrobianos y radioprotectores potenciales. Se describe la obtencion de los 3-acetil (etoxicarbonil)-4-d-arabinotetraacetoxibutil-1 2-dimetil-5-nitropirroles por nitracion con hno3-ac2ode los 3-acetil (etoxicarbonil)-4-d-arabinotetraacetoxibutil-1 2-dimetilpirroles  y de la y-lactona del acido 4-d-arabinotetrahidroxibutil-1 2-dimetil-5-nitropirrol por desacetilacion del compuesto correspondiente. Por anhidrizacion de polihidroxialquilpirroles se han obtenido los 3-etoxicarbonil-4-(&amp;yb-d-eritrofuranosil)-1 2-dimetilpirroles. La acetilacion da los derivados di-o-acetilados. La nitracion del anomero &amp;conduce al 4-(2  3 -di-o-acetil-&amp;-d-eritrofuranosil)-3-etoxicarbonil-1 2-dimetil-5-nitropirrol.
