Se han estudiado las transformaciones de este acido a partir del cual se han sintetizado los siguientes macrolactonas:  oxaciclononadec-10- en -2-ona con un rendimiento global del 62%. El biciclo ( 17:3:0 ) -10     20 22-trioxa-21-tia-9     21-dioxodocosano con un rendimiento del 48 7%. El cis y trans ambretolido (hexadec-7-enolido) con rendimientos del 22 y 37% respectivamente encontrando por tanto en el acido floionolico el sustrato comercial idoneo para la preparacion del
