Las reacciones por este grupo que tienen lugar en mayor extension son su reduccion a alcohol secundario y su alquilacion a alcohol terciario  que conducen a las alfa-hidroxioximas o a las alfa-hidroxicetonas resultantes de su hidrolisis. Tambien tienen lugar procesos de fragmentacion de la molecula a traves de reacciones sucesivas de adicion y eliminacion  que conducen a cetonas y nitrolos. Unicamente en el caso de la alfa-bencilmonoxima se ha caracterizado un producto de transformacion del grupo oxima  el 1-fenil-2-fenilamino-1-etanol  resultante de una transposicion de beckmann previa
