Ha sido solubilizada y purificada. Esta formada por un peptido mayoritario de peso molecular 100.000 daltons forma un intermediario fosforilado. Reconstituida en liposomas  cataliza la reaccion de intercambio 32pi\/atp y descenso de fluorescencia de  9-amino-6-cloro-2-metoxi-acridina .  ambas reacciones son sensibles a gramicidina y nigericina asi como a desalopladores.
