La enzima se inactiva totalmente en presencia de distintos compuestos reducidos (nad (p)h  gash) siendo este proceso dependiente del ph  temperatura de incubacion y concentracion de reductor. Asimismo fue protegida eficazmente frente a la inactivacion por de reductor. Asimismo fue protegida eficazmente frente a la inactivacion por diversos oxidantes y reductores. La glutacion reductasa previamente inactivada se reactivo eficazmente por los mismos compuestos que la protegian.  con el fin de investigar que grupos de los que participan en el mecanismo catalitico intervienen en el de interconversion redox  se estudio como afectaban diversos compuestos especificos a los sitio g y n de la enzima observandose que ni los residuos del sitio n ni la his del sitio intervienen en el mecanismo de interconversion redox  que la cys proximal al fad si intervien  siendo esto confirmado por los resultados obtenidos al estudiar este mecanismo
