Los participantes son tres profesores de una escuela de idiomas universitaria impartiendo clases de ingles a nivel intermedio y sus correspondientes estudiantes. Cada profesor fue analizado en una clase a lo largo de un a\u00f1o academico a traves de la observacion (notas de campo y grabaciones audio), un cuestionario y una entrevista.  el analisis se presenta en dos grandes apartados, uno dedicado a los tres profesores y otro a sus estudiantes.  en cuanto a los primeros, se derivan tres tipos de resultados: (a) se identifican caracteristicas comunes, (b) se distinguen caracteristicas individuales, y (c) se generan una serie de variables en la naturaleza de las tareas y las creencias de los profesores. En cuanto a los estudiantes, se analiza el habla publica y privada durante los segmentos iniciales y finales. Tambien se contrastan las expectativas del profesor en la presentacion de las tareas con la ejecucion de las mismas. Los resultados indican que las interacciones privadas son abundantes y significativas desde un punto de vista social y academico.
