Dos de ellos el perclorato de 1 2 4 6-tetrafenil-piridinio y el perclorato de 2-fenilbenzo-(8 9)-quinolizinio-(4 5 6 7-fed)-fenatridinilio forman compuestos de asociacion ionica con los complejos clorurados de talio (iii) y oro (iii)  extraibles en acetato de isoamilo y se han aplicado a la determinacion espectrofotometrica y espectrofluriometrica de ambos iones metalicos. El otro grupo de reactivos organicos esta formado por cuatro derivados n-sustituidos de la 4 6-difenil-piridin-2-tiona. Dichos compuestos se comportan como formadores de complejos con mercurio (ii) y se han aplicado a la determinacion espectrofotometrica y valoraciones fotometricas de mercurio (ii) a concentraciones muy bajas. Igualmente los compuestos han resultado utiles como indicadores visuales en valoraciones mercurimetricas de ioduro. Todos los metodos propuestos presentan buena sensibilidad  selectividad exactitud y precision.
