Todas las microalgas toleraron los crioprotectores dimetilsulfoxido y metanol en concentraciones superiores a las empleadas hasta el momento en la criopreservacion del fitoplancton marino. Aunque con una viabilidad inferior, t. Chuii, n. Gaditana y n. Atomus pudieron ser criopreservadas en ausencia de crioprotectores. Bajo estas condiciones, fue muy importante mantener la salinidad del medio en 36 ya que, al descender esta hasta 20, la viabilidad disminuyo bruscamente. Rhodomonas baltica fue la unica especie que presento una mejor respuesta a la criopreservacion con una salinidad de 20, pero siempre en presencia de un 15% de dmso. La tasa de congelacion entre 0,25 y 16 grados c min-1 afecto escasamente a la criopreservacion de las seis microalgas, especialmente cuando se adicionaron los crioprotectores dmso o metanol al medio de suspension celular. En cambio, las diferencias entre descongelacion lenta y rapida fueron muy grandes, registrandose indices de viabilidad mayores con la descongelacion rapida, especialmente despues realizar la
