La inhibicion ocutre tanto in vivo como in vitro y es especifica ya que no afecta a otros enzimas que sintetiza otros polisacaridos de la misma pared celular.  esta inhibicion va acompa\u00f1ada in vivo con una alteracion en el modelo de crecimiento del micelio del hongo pasando de un modelo de crecimiento con ramificacion lateral a otro conocido como colonial similar al provocado por la l-sorbosa. A pesar de resultar inhibida la sintesis del beta(1-3) glucano en un 80%  no se produce la lisis del hongo de lo que se concluye que en este caso la quitina ejerce un papel estructural mas fundamental en la pared celular de g.
