La reduccion se ha estudiado mediante polarografia clasica  voltametria ciclica lineal y medidas de intensidad-potencial punto a punto. Se ha intentado buscar un mecanismo de reduccion cuya ecuacion i-e describa los resultados experimentales. Ademas  para poder decidir si las diferencias de reactividad entre el grupo carbonilo y el doble enlace etilenico se pueden achacar a factores estructurales  se ha realizado un estudio basao en
