El 1 dividido en 5 capitulos estudia la ambientacion cultural de cadiz en el s. Xviii la vida profesional del gremio de plateros  la evolucion estetica y morfologica de la orfebreria que sale de los talleres de los artifices y los 3 periodos estilisticos que se forman: el tardobarroco  el rococo y el neoclasico. El 2 volumen consta de un catalogo de las piezas estudiadas senalando las caracteristicas principales: autor  material empleado  medidas  lugar donde se encuentran  su procedencia  sus punzones y las inscripciones que tienen. Agrupadas en base a su funcion liturgica  de culto o de exorno  partiendo por orden de prioridadde las piezas gaditanas continuando con aquellas que se encuentran cercanas asu radio de influencia.
