Se han practicado inoculaciones en conejos por via digestiva e intravenosa con distintas dosis de supensiones fagicas comprobandose que la presencia de s. Marcescens en el tracto intestinal de los animales inoculados permite la replicacion de los bacterofagos especificos  in vivo .  los bacterofagos inoculados por via intravenosa persisten en sangre circulantes durante un tiempo de 5 a 7 horas siendo acumulados en tejidos esplericos y hepatico. La inoculacion de bacteriofagos en un mamifero induce la produccion de anticuerpos neutralizantes especificos  asi como la aparicion de leucocitosis en los animales inoculados por via
