Las comunidades de rudistas se desarrollaron y crecieron en una rampa carbonatada cuya sonerizacion les proporciono las condiciones ambientales requeridas.  construyeron diversos complejos arrecifales hasta que un importante cambio eustatico del nivel del mar fustro su expansionamiento.
