La secuencia nucleotidica de este retroelemento, que ha sido denominado skippy, contiene todas las caracteristicas que se consideran esenciales para la transposicion replicativa de este tipo de elementos.  esta presente la duplicacion de la secuencia \u00abdiana\u00bb. Las ltrs son identicas en tama\u00f1o y secuencia; presentan cortas repeticiones inversas terminales y, ademas, la secuencia tg en un extremo y la secuencia ca en el otro.  todas estas, caracteristicas necesarias para la integracion. Estan presentes tambien las se\u00f1ales de transcripcion caat y tata, y la se\u00f1al de poliadenilacion aataaa; la existencia de posibles secuencias potenciadoras de la transcripcion y las secuencias pbs y ssp imprescindibles para la retrotranscripcion. Ademas skippy contiene dos largas fases abiertas de lectura, cuyas secuencias de aminoacidos deducidas contienen todos los residuos que se suponen implicados en la funcionalidad de las proteinas
