Las caracter\u00edsticas que hacen atractivo a los c\u00edmbalos son su dise\u00f1o sencillo, su bajo coste de producci\u00f3n, la combinaci\u00f3n o desplazamiento altos con la generaci\u00f3n de fuerzas moderadas y la posibilidad \u00fanica de adaptar sus propiedades en funci\u00f3n delos requisitos concretos de cada aplicaci\u00f3n. el objetivo principal de la presente tesis es establecer los par\u00e1metros de dise\u00f1o que permitan la mejora del dispositivo, as\u00ed como la determinaci\u00f3n de m\u00e9todos de control a trav\u00e9s de su caracterizaci\u00f3n funcional. Para ello se realiza una aproximaci\u00f3n anal\u00edtica basada en un modelo mec\u00e1nico y posteriormente se establece una metodolog\u00eda de simulaci\u00f3n mediante el m\u00e9todo de los elementos finitos (mef). Se valida el modelo mediante la comparaci\u00f3n entre los datos obtenidos mediante la simulaci\u00f3n mef con resultados experimentales, mostr\u00e1ndose un buen acuerdo. A partir de estos modelos se realizan simulaciones tanto delos modos de vibraci\u00f3n como de las distribuciones de tensiones mec\u00e1nicas y de potencial el\u00e9ctrico en el interior de la cer\u00e1mica piezoel\u00e9ctrica. Gracias ha estos modelos se encuentra una concentraci\u00f3n de tensiones en el borde interior de la capa de adhesivo, lo que permite establecer un l\u00edmite superior de frecuencia de operaci\u00f3n para modos fuera de resonancia y limita la utilizaci\u00f3n de estos dispositivos en modos resonantes a voltajes de excitaci\u00f3n bajos. Otro aspecto que se estudia son las limitaciones relacionadas con los problemas de fabricaci\u00f3n, como el desdoblamiento de la frecuencia fundamental de la cavida en c\u00edmbalos sim\u00e9tricos y la distribuci\u00f3n de las frecuencias de resonancia. As\u00ed mismo, se determina la respuesta bajo carga de estos dispositivos mediante ensayos de compresi\u00f3n uniaxial hasta rotura, empleando una maquina de ensayos
