Estos compuestos forman una disolucion solida. Por ir y raman muestran la presencia de dos modos dominantes (de las redes de sns2 y snse2) y un tercer modo de aleacion. La fuerza de enlace s-sn es mayor que se-sn. El desplazamiento isomerico en mossbauer es lineal con la composicion. El caracter covalente aumenta con el contenido en selenio. La intercalacion de li en sns2 por via quimica da lugar a un producto de espaciado basal semejante que presenta una clara reduccion del sn(iv) (por mossbauer) y una alta reactividad, intercalando facilmente agua y n-alquil-aminas, a diferencia del sns2 que no intercala. Las curvas de descarga electroquimica de litio y sodio se caracterizan por la presencia de dos mesetas, entre 0.1-0.3 y 0.4-0.8 f\/mol. El analisis de la interaccion entre los iones intercalados y de los coeficientes de difusion (d) muestra la presencia de dos procesos de difusion diferenciados entre 0&lt;=x&lt;=1\/3 y 1\/3&lt;=x&lt;=1, siendo la repulsion entre los iones mayor en el primer tramo, con un mayor valor de d en el segundo tramo. En todos los casos aparece una nueva fase cuya celda asimetrica corresponde a tres unidades snx2, mostrando una expansion debida a la acomodacion del li y\/o na en la interlamina.
