Estimacion de los componentes de varianza y por tanto proponer un conjunto de caracteres apropiados para caracterizar el germoplasma de guisante.  elegir los caracteres mas adecuados para la clasificacion taxonomica de las variedades estudiadas.  los resultados indican, que las 105 variedades locales de guisante procedentes del no de la peninsula iberica presentan una gran diversidad para los caracteres de planta, vaina inmadura y grano para consumo en verde.
