Para conocer y comprender en profundidad esta transformaci\u00f3n, en el cap\u00edtulo 1 se ha desarrollado una amplia introducci\u00f3n del as transformaciones de fase en estado s\u00f3lido en aceros y, en particular, de las caracter\u00edsticas de la transformaci\u00f3n bain\u00edtica. Su inter\u00e9s no es puramente cient\u00edfico, sino tambi\u00e9n industrial. Efectivamente, la adici\u00f3n de elementos aleantes como el silicio, que pude dar lugar a microestructuras bain\u00edticas sin formaci\u00f3n de carburos, y el conocimiento preciso de la influencia de otros diferentes aleantes, permitir\u00e1 obtener en este nuevo tipo de aceros con una combinaci\u00f3n de propiedades de resistencia y tenacidad muy atractivas.     la optimizaci\u00f3n de los tratamientos t\u00e9rmicos m\u00e1s apropiados para la obtenci\u00f3n de tales microestructuras requiere un estudio exhaustivo de la cin\u00e9tica de la transformaci\u00f3n bain\u00edtica. Tal estudio se lleva a cabo en el cap\u00edtulo ii, donde adem\u00e1s se propone un modelo nuevo para predecir la cin\u00e9tica de la transformaci\u00f3n bain\u00edtica. En dicho modelo se distingue entre la bainita formada mediante nucelaci\u00f3n e subunidades directamente en borde de grano austen\u00edtico y a partir de subunidades previamente formadas. Sin duda, este modelo representa una de las aportaciones cient\u00edficas de mayor inter\u00e9s en esta tesis por su contribuci\u00f3n directa al conocimiento de la transformaci\u00f3n bain\u00edtica.     todos los conocimientos adquiridos en los cap\u00edtulos i y ii son empleados en el cap\u00edtulo iii para el dise\u00f1o de nuevos aceros bain\u00edticos ricos en silicio con elevadas propiedades de resistencia y tenacidad. En este trabajo de tesis se ha desarrollado la base te\u00f3rica necesaria para poder abordar con \u00e9xito el dise\u00f1o de nuevos aceros abin\u00edticos libre de carburos que, con un amplia
