Se pretende contribuir, mediante la propuesta de un marco conceptual adecuado, al conocimiento de los factores que el consumidor eval\u00faa en la elecci\u00f3n del canal de distribuci\u00f3n internet frente a los canales tradicionales aplicados al \u00e1mbito del turismo. para explicar el canal de distribuci\u00f3n elegido por el consumidor se han trabajado con los siguientes marcos conceptuales: teor\u00eda de se\u00f1ales, confianza, riesgo percibido y teor\u00eda de los costes de transacci\u00f3n. Este cuerpo te\u00f3rico sienta las bases para definir un modelo causal con trece hip\u00f3tesis, el cu\u00e1l ha sido analizado mediante un proceso biet\u00e1p\u00ed\u00acco: mediante un modelo path -fase de recogida y evaluaci\u00f3n de la informaci\u00f3n- seguido de un modelo logit multinomial- etapa de elecci\u00f3n-. los resultados obtenidos nos permiten concluir que la falta de confianza hacia internet y el consiguiente mayor riesgo percibido asociado a la compra son junto, con la percepci\u00f3n de mayores costes asociados a la compra a trav\u00e9s de internet los principales frenos al desarrollo de internet como canal de distribuci\u00f3n tur\u00edstica. Adem\u00e1s, existen diferencias en cuanto a la intensidad de los efectos para los diferentes subsectores analizados (turismo de sol y playa, turismo urbano y turismo
