En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os se ha incrementado notablemente el inter\u00e9s por este tipo de fuentes gracias a los desarrollo se nuevas fibras \u00f3pticas (fibras microestructuradas o de cristal fot\u00f3nico y tapered) y al progreso en la tecnolog\u00eda de l\u00e1seres ultracortos. Esta tesis describe un m\u00e9todo experimental extremadamente simple para genera una fuente de luz supercontinua usando un l\u00e1ser de bombeo continuo y una fibra \u00f3ptica monomodo con las caracter\u00edsticas adecuadas. Se muestra que con esta configuraci\u00f3n experimental pueden conseguiste fuentes supercontinuas con una buena estabilidad y valores de densidad espectral de potencia muy elevados. Partiendo de la consideraci\u00f3n de los efectos no lineales que tienen lugar en la fibra, se aporta una explicaci\u00f3n te\u00f3rica de los procesos que conducen a la generaci\u00f3n de la fuente supercontinua as\u00ed como una simulaci\u00f3n matem\u00e1tica de los mismos. El desarrollo de este tipo de fuentes resulta de gran inter\u00e9s para su aplicaci\u00f3n en campos como las comunicaciones \u00f3pticas, la meteorolog\u00eda, la espectroscop\u00eda y la tomograf\u00eda \u00f3ptica de coherencia.
