Ha ido en aumento en espa\u00f1a en los ultimos a\u00f1os. Sin embargo, los hibridos que se cultivan son importados de estados unidos y canada y, consecuentemente, su adaptacion a las condiciones ambientales del norte de espa\u00f1a es deficiente, apareciendo graves problemas de adaptacion al medio.  una posible fuente para mejorar las caracteristicas agronomicas y el rendimiento del maiz dulce estaria en el germoplasma de maiz grano adaptado a las condiciones gallegas. El problema surge cuando hay que elegir que fuente de germoplasma tiene una mayor proporcion de alelos favorables. En este sentido, diversos autores han desarrollado diferentes metodos para identificar aquellas poblaciones con una mayor proporcion de genes favorables.  la aplicacion de estos metodos ha permitido concluir que las poblaciones de maiz grano estudiadas en este trabajo se presentan como fuentes potenciales de nuevos alelos favorables que podrian mejorar el maiz dulce.
