El proceso fue optimizado mediante seguimiento  de la composici\u00f3n de las diferentes fracciones utilizando ftir y py-gc\/ms, y la pureza de las preparaciones finales fue confirmada mediante 2d-nmr. La lignina de madera de eucalipto (mwl) y las ligninas residuales de las pastas muestran un predominio de unidades s y subestructuras beta-o-4. Las ligninas residuales tienen una composici\u00f3n m\u00e1s similar a la mwl que a la lignina krft, que presenta una relaci\u00f3n s\/g muy elevada, un alto contenido fen\u00f3lico (estimado tras acetilaci\u00f3n) y un predominio de subestructuras de tipo siringaresinol (analizadas mediante hsqc-nmr). Esto indica que la lignina m\u00e1s fuertemente modificada durante la cocci\u00f3n es liberada e incorporada a las lej\u00edas negras, mientras que la lignina residual en pasta permanece escasamente alterada. Durante el blanqueo tcf se produce una modificaci\u00f3n oxidativa de la lignina residual, que se traduce en un aumento de carbonilos no-conjugados y conjugados al anillo arom\u00e1tico (asignados a estructuras de tipo muconato y acetosiringona en experimentos hsqc y hmbc) y eliminaci\u00f3n de subestructuras de tipo siringaresion dado lugar a un fuerte predominio de las subestructuras beta-o-4 (casi 90% del total). Las alcaliligninas de c\u00e1\u00f1amo y lino analizadas mediante py-gc\/ms y ftir presentan un predominio  de unidades g frente a unidades s, mientras que en las de yute, sisal, y abac\u00e1 ocurre lo contrario, siendo su composici\u00f3n m\u00e1s semejante a la lignina de eucalipto. En la lignina de abac\u00e1 existe una cantidad significativa del \u00e1cido p-cum\u00e1rico. \u00e9ste se encuentra asociado a la lignina a trav\u00e9s de enlaces \u00e9ster, mientras que el \u00e1cido fer\u00falico est\u00e1 predominantemente enlazado por enlaces \u00e9ter.
