En la tesis se reporta por primera vez la clonaci\u00f3n del gen que codifica para la s\u00edntesis de s-adenosilhomociste\u00edna hidrolasa, a partir de microorganismos mesof\u00edlicos y termof\u00edlicos de inter\u00e9s industrial. Tambi\u00e9n se reporta la expresi\u00f3n de las enzimas provenientes de dichas fuentes en altos niveles, su purificaci\u00f3n y la caracterizaci\u00f3n bioqu\u00edmica de las s-adenosilhomociste\u00edna hidrolasas purificadas. La caracterizaci\u00f3n bioqu\u00edmica ha permitido seleccionar a una de las enzimas recombinantes obtenidas en su posible aplicaci\u00f3n como biocatalizador en la s\u00edntesis de
