La zona superior muestra una elevada concentraci\u00f3n de minerales magn\u00e9ticos, principalmente magnetita. En la zona intermedia, los (oxihidr)\u00f3xidos de fe se disuelven r\u00e1pidamente debido a los procesos de sulfatorreducci\u00f3n. Los minerales de baja coerctividad son m\u00e1s sensibles a la disoluci\u00f3n, aumentando la proporci\u00f3n de meatites y goetita, con el consiguiente aumento de la dureza magn\u00e9tica. Las priritas framboidales son un componente com\u00fan de estos sedimentos, junto con la freigita, su precursos ferrimagn\u00e9tico. La disoluci\u00f3n de los \u00f3xidos en esta zona, y la neoformaci\u00f3n de freigita monodominio, son los procesos responsables de la disminuci\u00f3n de tama\u00f1o observa en este nivel. Finalmente, a mayor profundidad se produce la disoluci\u00f3n pr\u00e1cticamente completa de los oxihidr(\u00f3xidos) de fe magn\u00e9ticos, as\u00ed como la transformaci\u00f3n de la greigita en pirita. esta zona se caracteriza, pro tanto, por una baja concentraci\u00f3n de minerales magn\u00e9ticos, una disminuci\u00f3n de la dureza magn\u00e9tica y un aumento acusado del tama\u00f1o de grano.     el establecimiento de esta zonaci\u00f3n est\u00e1 en \u00faltima instancia controlado por la resuspensi\u00f3n de los sedimentos debido al oleaje, y sobre todo por la reoxidaci\u00f3n de su materia org\u00e1nica en la columna de agua.
